Adjusting…
I have had a few people ask me lately how I have been adjusting here in Ormond Beach. Well, …
- I really am enjoying my new role here at the Beachside Church.
- Two months later, I am still very glad I made the move!
- God is so good to his kids…He always takes care of us.
- I didn’t realize how much I like meeting new people.
- I didn’t realize just how much I missed my family. (almost all of them live here in FL)
- I miss my friends in AZ.
- I miss hiking in the desert hills of PHX. It really was something that I enjoyed doing…
- I LOVE running on the beach as the sun is rising.
- I enjoy eating at the Boondocks while the sun is setting. (kinda negates the running, though…)
- I probably should go camping soon… (big fan of nature)
- I love the humidity. (odd, huh?)
- I now remember just how amazing Floridians truly are (sweeping generalization, but case ‘n point: Drew, Robbie and all of the Fishers).
- I am growing more comfortable with the idea of wearing flipflops in church. I may even get crazy one day and wear shorts!
Book: In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day by Mark Batterson
I read this book earlier last month and pulled some great insight about courage and faith. Seems that these two things are basically inseparable. Mark Batterson’s take on a seemingly hidden couple of verses in the Old Testament shouts about God’s desire to take his people out of hiding and into combat. I have skipped over this entire story many times for one reason or another in the past. I think that this is very applicable to life. To follow God through an unseen world takes great courage and proves our faith. Our faith becomes the evidence of our ability to trust and believe that God has our best interest in mind and will never harm us. Good book.
Anyone else read this book? What is your take?
